CRE Loaded

creloaded

CRE Loaded is like Oscommerce but with many more contributions installed. Some of the nice contributions it has are Easy Populate which lets you populate your database from an Excel file, coupon codes, administrator access levels, template system, and an affiliate manager. CRE Loaded also has one of the Oscommerce templating systems installed which allows you to more easily integrate a design into the system and control which information boxes show on the left and right columns.

Pros
Many contributions from Oscommerce already installed

Cons
Contributions from Oscommerce.com can be more difficult to install, but CRE Loaded has many of its own already converted
Buggy code for some modules like multi vendor shipping

  1. Denver says:

CRE contains many security holes. Their company frequently inserts affiliate programs to make them profit directly into the cart code. Basic supply chain management functionality as well as content management are severely lacking in the core code base. Consider a different solution altogether.

  2. Snooper says:

CRE (pro version) has some big holes: you cannot apply percentage discounts to product attributes and cannot add images to attributes. If you want to show (for instance) colour samples you’d need to add these in product options, but then you can’t bulk discount these at all. CRE’s great for a very basic shopfront, but Zen has far more functionality, although what CRE has is quite slick.
On another note I’ve had the misfortune to have to use CRE’s support. If you’re going to pay for CRE pro, CHECK VERY, VERY (I can’t say this enough) CAREFULLY that it does what you need. The basic free version is, apparently, a completely different thing to the ‘pro’ version, despite what the website implies. There’s no support for anything that wasn’t actually supplied with it – so you have 2 very amateurish looking templates and some very basic payment modules. The ultimate answer to any problem is: ‘hire a programmer to sort it out for you’.

Hello, I use an OSCommerce website powered by CRE Loaded. The interface is great, easy simple and intuitive, I have basic knowledge of html, but none is required to use the admin interface, It’s great, let’s me upload products in a snap, make cross sales, shipping discounts, print invoices, the list goes on and on, all of these things are done with the click of a button too. It’s been a lifesaver, and if there’s ever anything I get stuck with, their support forums are a great place for free advice! Hope this is helpful

btw, when you get your business up and running, get a hacker safe logo from scanalert.com my sales went up 13% the first month I had it, and then another 16% over the next 3 months, It only cost me $500 for a whole year.
